Australia Detour

I am currently sitting in Perth Airport, feeling very refreshed and positive. Although initially I was very upset about not continuing my trip onto Jaipur, I definitely feel that I made the right decision. I ended being extremely lucky, as leaving Mumbai meant that I was out the day before the city wide flooding happened, preventing most modes of transport. Fortunately, while in Mumbai I managed to have a really good insight into the livelihood in Dharavi, as well as having time to explore the city itself, and see the progressive growth.
While in Australia, I have been staying with my aunt, uncle and cousins in Mandurah. Here, I have had time to relax after so many weeks with hectic travel schedules, as well as develop the information I have collected on my journey. This has been particularly helpful to look back on my experiences in Brazil, while it is still fresh in my mind, and come to some conclusions about my findings in Brazil and Mumbai. It has also given me the opportunity to spend some time with my cousin, and help her through her current personal battle. Through some very lucky circumstances, Perth is where Abel Feleke (2016 winner of the scholarship) studied and lives, giving me the opportunity to meet with him while in the city. This has been really great, as we have shared our experiences with each other and found out what we have found similar or different!
Here are a few photos of my time in Australia - already looking forward to the next time I get to visit!
